My name is Dagogo Opusunju, DNP, NP, is a native of Opobo town in Rivers State. I was born in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State and the first of five children of my parents. I’m married with three children; one is in the work force, and the other two are in school. I like listening and dancing to Reggae music.
My early childhood was filled with joy, happiness and sometimes sadness. Joy and happiness from making lots of friends, and sadness from losing my friends when we pack up and move from those cities. My father had worked for an agricultural corporation that transferred him to various cities in the Eastern part of Nigeria, and as a result of these transfers, my primary and secondary schooling occurred in many major cities and towns in the Eastern region of Nigeria.
In the eighties, I came to the United States of America to further my education. Schooled and graduated from various Universities in different states. I have lived in Ohio for more than thirty years, have worked in various industries here in the US, and acquired different skill sets.
Currently, I am a Nurse Practitioner with a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree. I’ve worked in both acute and non-acute settings in the medical ecosystem. I am privileged to have worked on the medical/surgical floor of a major local hospital as a medical surgical nurse. In another major hospital system here in Columbus, I worked as a dialysis nurse. Here, my focus was only on the dialysis population.
I’ve also worked as a provider of medical services in one of the largest/biggest retail organizations in the US and the nation’s second biggest pharmacy. My services in both facilities included (but were not limited to) diagnosing, treating and counseling patients with all acute and chronic diseases.
I also worked for the City of Columbus, Ohio as a Medical service provider in the Sexual Transmitted Disease clinic (STD).
